28 February 20233 min de lecture

Foie gras is a delicacy much appreciated by connoisseurs. It is found on end-of-year festive tables. Indeed, lovers of this exceptional dish are very numerous in France. A new survey conducted by the CSA among professionals in the fine food sector confirms the enthusiasm of the French for this main course at the end of the year. In fact, nearly 8 out of 10 people think it is the most important element of any festive meal !

Foie gras is by far the leading product in the rankings of those inseparable from these privileged moments. It leads smoked salmon (68%) or Yule log (66%) by at least 10 points. If 91% of the French declare themselves to be consumers of foie gras, it is therefore not surprising that 71% of the population plan to savour it for the year-end celebrations ! The French are very attached to this delicacy, thus 93% of the population believe it is part of French gastronomic heritage.

In these particular circumstances, no fewer than 86% of the population believe that Foie gras should be purchased to support breeders. To make the right choice on the shelf, one can rely on the collective Foie Gras de France logo. Deployed by the trade association, it makes it easy to identify products from the sector sourced from ducks originating in France.

Indeed, Foie gras bearing this logo comes from ducks born, raised, fattened, processed, packaged and labelled in France. Today, for 90% of French people, this logo is the reference for choosing Foie gras. A reference that is also found in two other flagship products of the sector: Confit de France and Magret de France.

Foie gras, synonymous with celebration !

It must be said that in the eyes of the French, the presence of foie gras on a festive table is very important. Indeed, 84% believe that it is a way of sharing moments of celebration and pleasure with their loved ones, particularly in a context of gloom and ambient anxiety. If you are looking for foie gras for your tables during the festive season, you can visit a local shop, large supermarkets, online boutiques or go directly to a producer’s farm.
